Prayer For 2007 ~ Tasha Halpert ~ Living Each Day

Here is a brand new year,
An empty garden ready for seeds.
What do I need for '07?
Strength to endure,
Courage to change,
Grace to see clearly,
Laughter to help me when I'm afraid
Of whatever happens to plans I've made
Once God has finished with them.

What will I plant in the fertile soil of '07?
Scatter the seeds!
I want to learn,
To grow, to know
What I don't,
To weed out
Whatever is ready to go,
Keep safe what is mine:
The jewels of friendship,
The mirrors of truth
That shine in the eyes of dear ones.

This new year is mine to dream on,
Mine to live as best I can.
I want to give myself
Time to be me,
To have fun, to express
Whatever my soul will give to the world.
To uncurl the buds of my being,
See their petals shine in the sun.

I pray for strength as I
Release all I no longer need or can use
Release what is distracting me
From this present moment.
I accept this gift, this year,
This bare soil awaiting me
In this fertile garden
Always growing in Time.
