Maybe I believe in a time that never was.
Maybe I believe in a time that never will be.
The only thing that really matters is that I choose to believe.

I choose to believe that someday things will be better.
I choose to believe that someday we will treat each other better.
I choose to believe that it is more important that we share our gifts
than how much we gain from our gifts.

I choose to believe that those at the bottom
deserve as much respect as those at the top.
I choose to believe in dreams and possibilities.
I choose to believe that life has a purpose.

I choose to believe that people, while flawed, are good.
I choose to believe that about myself.
I believe that God must see our flaws
yet he continues to believe in us.

He doesn't give up on us.
If God believes in us,
then why shouldn't we?

Though logic and reason
may convince others to prove,
I choose not always to prove.

I've learned from looking backwards
that today's moments are just
a prelude to tomorrow's realities.

I've also learned that tomorrow's realities
can come from our beliefs today.
The future is not a proven fact.
The future is a choice.

If scorn, ridicule and laughter
come from believing then so be it.
Someday that will end.
What will never end is my belief.
I choose to believe.
